About US
Our owner Shay Hartis grew up in The Colony Texas (a suburb of north Dallas) where he learned faith, hard work, discipline, and character from his parents and high school coaches. Shay was an exceptional student and athlete where he excelled in baseball as a pitcher. He won numerous baseball awards in high school and was a Perfect Game All American. He went on to play D1 baseball at Texas Tech with a full scholarship. Shay had a very good baseball career and being a student athlete taught him so much about being successful and how to set goals and make them happen. He also played a season of baseball at Kansas State his Sr. year where he graduated with a business management degree. Shay was an MLB draft prospect but a serious shoulder injury ended his baseball career.
After college, Shay got his real estate license and started working in the DFW area with his Dad and the family’s real estate business. While being in real estate, Shay observed that many homeowners were not receiving the high quality of work on their home renovation projects that they deserved. So Shay started his own company Serious Renovations building relationships with some of the top experienced contractors in the area. Shay learned every aspect of the roofing and home renovations process from A to Z including insurance filing, insurance claims, working with adjusters, getting work done on time, and how to provide his customers high quality work on their homes combined with excellent customer service.
